Step 1 – Setting Up the Machine
The HoMedics ParaSpa Plus paraffin bath kit comes with instructions, disposable plastic hand covers, and six lbs. of pure paraffin wax. Place an appropriate amount of wax in the machine and plug it in. Turn on the machine and let the wax melt. There is a red indicator light that glows and turns green when the melting process is complete. This will take about two hours. The green light indicates that the wax is ready for use. Bear in mind that the wax level should maintain between the minimum and maximum lines on the unit and not closer than 1 ½ inches from the top of the device.
Step 2 – Test the Temperature
When the wax is melted, test the temperature of the wax on your wrist area. If you think it is too warm for your liking, let it cool for a short period, then test again. Be careful not to test the temperature of the wax while the red light is on because this is the melting mode and both the unit and the wax will be extremely hot.
Step 3 – Get Ready for Dipping
Wash your desired area of treatment (hands, elbows, or feet) and dry thoroughly. You may apply lotion to the area before dipping to make it easier for you to remove the wax later on and enhance the moisturizing effect.
First, dip one side of your hand/elbow/foot into the melted wax bath and pull out quickly. Wait about three seconds or until the shiny wax turns dull, then dip it in again.
